David, Founder and Head Dog Trainer
Hi Everyone! They say that your passion often chooses you, and that couldn’t be more true in my experience founding CalmK9 Training.
I have always loved dogs, but it wasn’t until a small, bruised up, Chow mix puppy, wandered into my backyard one rainy night, that I realized that, loving dogs could translate into real, tangible help for them as well.
As I took that pup (now Sadie) in, it became evident very quickly that she was incredibly anxious of most stimuli, and extremely fearful of people. After trying several trainers and methods with minimal success, I decided to work with Sadie on my own, weaving together my experience, research, knowledge, methods, and education from those in the field.
Seeing Sadie’s issues recede and her confidence build, I knew I had landed on something that worked! Through this training, Sadie was rehabilitated and is now a calm, happy dog…and my company was born.
Now my goal is to bring that same positive ending to all who reach out to us. I was told so many times nothing could be done for my pup, and CalmK9 is here to restore hope to owners. We provide help to any dog, no matter the breed or history of behavior/aggression. This training will improve your relationship with your dog and give you a whole new, dog friendly lifestyle. We know there is no dog we can’t help!

Hello Everyone! My name is Carl; I’ve been working with dogs for over ten years now and have always been an animal lover in general. I found my passion for training when I rescued my pup Ophelia and realized all her behavioral issues. Working with my dog’s challenges has helped with resource guarding and anxiousness. It was challenging for sure, but seeing the positive change and happiness was amazing!
I have always been a people person and love being able to help others in any way. My experience back in England as a teacher has helped me become a better leader, gain patience, problem-solve in challenging situations. My end goal is to teach you to have a happy, stress-free, and well-mannered dog inside and out of the household!

My dog, Les showed extreme aggression towards people and animals before meeting David. He couldn’t be out if someone new was over, I couldn’t take him on walks, or anywhere really. I lived in fear of what les could do to others, and was constantly anxious. Les did the 3 week rehabilitation bootcamp with David and came back a totally different dog. He is now calm, and not a ball of anxiety. I can walk him with no issues, and even have people over. I no longer have to live in fear of Les showing aggression. We had a great experience with Calm K-9 for our people-reactive chihuahua dachshund mix. After he bit an elderly neighbor we reached out to them on their website and got a quick response. Within weeks Carl came out for a consultation and assured us he could work with our dog. We signed up for the 4-week boot camp and could not be happier with the results. Not only can we have guests over to the house with out worrying about their safety, he also does not pull on the leash on walks, has stopped most destructive chewing behavior, listens to basic commands, and has all around better behavior. Carl did a great job teaching us lessons and being there for all of our additional questions after hours. Would very highly recommend the company and Carl, was worth every penny.

I can’t say enough good things about David and Calm K9 Training. We have two young, 50lb dogs that were full of energy and completely unruly. They were very leash reactive and would always go crazy any time they saw another dog on a walk. It had gotten to the point where we were dreading taking them on a walk and couldn’t go anywhere with them! David has completely transformed them into well behaved, calm dogs that we have no trouble with whether it’s new people coming into the house or approaching another dog on the walk. Everyone should go through this training program with their dog!
